To enable the City to provide clean, efficient and safe waste collection, the following guidelines and regulations must be observed:
General Rules

A: ALL WASTE MATERIALS including garbage, refuse and brush will be collected once a week at the curb.
B: ALL WASTE MATERIALS EXCEPT commingled recyclables, newspaper and yard waste shall be placed in non-disposable metal and/or plastic refuse containers, plastic bags, or other disposable containers. The non-disposable metal and/or plastic containers must be tapered, have two handles and have a maximum capacity of TWENTY GALLONS.
C: A MAXIMUM OF TWO non-disposable metal and/or plastic refuse containers will be collected from each residence in addition to an unlimited number of plastic bags or other disposable containers.
D: REFUSE may be placed curbside no sooner than 5:00 p.m. the day prior to collection, but no later than 6:30 a.m. on your collection day, regardless of the actual time of collection. The City cannot guarantee pick-up of items after 6:30 a.m. since pick-up begins at that time.
E: A FILLED NON-DISPOSABLE metal or plastic refuse container shall not exceed 50 pounds. All other containers shall not exceed 40 pounds when filled. No container shall exceed 4 feet in length.
F: ALL GLASS (except commingled and recyclable glass) or other sharp objects shall be placed in a separate non-disposable container for the safety of the collector.
G: ALL CONTAINERS with the exception of the non-disposable containers as described in item B, will be considered disposable and will be removed by the collector.
H: ALL ITEMS AT CURB SIDE, on your regular collection day, shall be considered refuse and will be removed by the collector with the exception of non-disposable containers described in item B.
I: THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED: Grass, sod, lead-acid batteries, vehicle parts, rocks or large stones, building and/or demolition materials left by contractors, flammable liquids, paint, poisonous or explosive substances, or any matter or substance other than refuse.
J: DELAYS IN COLLECTIONS may occur occasionally due to inclement weather or official holidays. However, the Department of Sanitation should be notified of any collections that are missed on a regular basis. (PHONE: 322-3895)
